One week in Lincoln, NE with an adorable cat and a cozy house

About this assignment

If you like and understand cats, and want a place to chill, work remotely, enjoy some TV, or beautiful Nebraska winter nature, this is the sit for you! I need someone who will keep my cat company, give her occasional treats, playtime, and keep an eye on my house while I am gone for a trip.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

- Watching my cat, checking at least twice a day to see if she wants in/out
- A pic of my cat once a day
- Playtime and cuddles as reasonably requested (by the cat)
- Cleaning the litter box daily (it's often less if she spends time outside though)
- Refilling food if needed (unlikely... however she might beg you to pet her while she eats because she is kind of a princess)
- Verifying water is full and clean (it should not need refilled in only a week)
- No guests/parties
- Keep awareness of the house, texting or calling me if anything happens. I'll show you where all the important house things are, but for the most part it should be pretty low key

What are the good features of the property and location

Cool, craftsman house, 100 years old. Wood stove. Fast wifi, good for working, gaming, streaming. Nice neighborhood, parks and grocery stores are all walkable. Coffee shop only a short walk from the house. 5 minute drive (40 minute walk) to downtown.

Lincoln is the Capitol city of Nebraska, and has some really cool bars (a couple of awesome speakeasies, a 1950-style lounge with a massive martini list, as well as a wide array of sports bars if that's your thing). As for coffee, there's a variety of chains (including the Nebraska chain, "Scooters") and indie coffee shops with unique specialty drinks. There are also some pretty cool retailers of locally made tea. Dining-wise, Lincoln has an unexpected amount of vegan restaurants, and a predictable amount of places that carnivores will love. If you've ever heard of Ayurveda or love holistic wellness, there's a solid number of community connections to deeper your knowledge here. Nebraska's nature isn't as flashy as places like the Rockies or coastal cities, but there are gorgeous grasslands and some of the best sunsets you can see around the world (based on my own experience traveling around the world).

All this to say, not the most exciting place on the map, but I hope if you decide to come here that you will explore and enjoy the city!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I will be gone for a week total, however if you would like to stay an extra day or two on either side of my trip I do not mind at all. I'm an avid couchsurfing host and willing to be flexible, my main interest is finding someone who I feel good about entrusting with my cat and home so I can focus on my trip!
